Departing france

I am sitting at charles de gaulle airport ready to leave france. It has been a good rest with a balance between sight seeing & meeting people. All good things come to an end though. Time now to face the year with vigour. Thanks to those who sent me texts and looked at the website. Au revior

Off to the Vendee

I am off for a few days to the Vendee to go camping with a group. The Vendee is a French Atlantic Coast beach area between Nantes and La Rouchelle.

Looking forward to it.

Claude Monet's Garden

The famous water lilly garden. His house is in the background.

I went there yesterday. Near the Seine River about 1/2 hour out of Paris.

These kinds of majestic views are everywhere in Paris

Angels of Gold

Yet another view of Paris

Up towards the Arc d'triuomphe in the distance, before that Place d'Concorde.

Another view of Paris

Looking up the Seine river - west

View of Paris

Another famous Renoir

A lot larger than I thought. You can see in relation to the person on the left.

Renoir - Painting of Helene Ballion in 1909

Captivating.

Musee D'Orsay - the Impressionists Museum - Monet, Van Gough etc etc

In 1986 it was converted from being an old train station to a modern art museum.

Tim with a interesting tower

Okay, so I am in Paris - you HAVE to get the photo don't you?

Having dinner at the Musee D'Orsay in Paris?

This is the sort of room that you can expect at the Musee D'Orsay. What do you think?

Paris - the mission

Okay - you have an afternoon in Paris. Now, what to do..... Hmm... I have been there before....I am wanting to go to the Musee D'Orsay. That is the impressionist art museum. You know, it has blokes like Van Gough, Renoir & Monet - their paintings that is. Other than that - nope not interested in visiting anywhere else except taking in the whole place - by going for a walk along the seine river and taking some photos and sitting in the park having an ice cream. So the above photos are from Tims' 'Big Day out' in Paris.

Futurescope - in Poitiers

Imagine a whole theme part of around 20 different 3D rides - virtual reality etc

My favourites was being the the space station with the Nasa pilots - it really felt like you were sitting on their shoulder and they floated around it and went outside in their space suits.

A house in St. Emilion (Bordeaux wine country)

Okay not bad - where do I sign for the house?

St Emilion - very pretty wine growing village near Bordeaux

View from high up in St Emilion.

From Perpignan to Paris

On Thursday took off from Perpignan which is near to the most southern tip of France to drive all the way back to Paris.

But which way to go? A lot of the routes I had been down before. A good idea would be to go a way that I hadn't seen. I decided to go via the vinyard area of Bordeaux - and stop in and buy myself a glass of wine. (Isn't that what you do in Bordeaux?)

It is a long.......long..... drive though. Hence it took me 2 days. I stopped at Poitiers - which is half-way to go to the Futurescope - which is a theme park of futuristic 3D theatre's - amazing!! More on that soon.
